Doing Business with FCPS
Please be advised
All pricing under purchase orders and contracts issued by FCPS is firm and fixed.
Any proposed price adjustments, including those resulting from external factors such as tariffs, must be submitted to FCPS in the form of a formal written request. Such requests for adjustments due to tariff changes must be supported by comprehensive documentation and are subject to FCPS review and approval.
Unauthorized price increases on purchase orders or contracts are strictly prohibited and may result in corrective actions, including, but not limited to, the termination of the purchase order or contract.
The Office of Procurement Services (OPS) is the central procurement office for FCPS. The mission of OPS is to show good stewardship of taxpayer dollars and follow best practices in the purchase of goods and services, excluding construction.
What We Do
The Office of Procurement Services secures high quality goods and services for schools and departments.
- We aim to:
- Obtain goods and services at a reasonable cost, in a timely manner
- Offer high quality customer service
- Follow best practices, including collaborative requirements, cooperative purchasing, comparative pricing, and competitive procurements
- Develop and implement innovative technological solutions
- Ensure that all competitive purchasing actions are conducted fairly
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws
- The competitive thresholds are:
- Small Purchases – Less than $10,000
- Informal Bids (requires 4 quotes) - $10,000 - $199,999.99
- Formal Bids (sealed bidding) or Competitive Negotiation (RFP) – Greater than $200,000
Become a Vendor
All vendors interested in doing business with FCPS and with the Fairfax County Government are encouraged to do the following:
- Register with eVA , the Commonwealth of Virginia’s electronic procurement portal.
- Register with Bonfire , the electronic e-bidding portal, to receive notification of active FCPS solicitations. Select the register button on the top right-hand corner of the page.
- Register to attend our periodic workshop, Selling to FCPS , to learn how to do business with FCPS, procurement law, purchasing authority, and methods of procurement.
- Register to attend Fairfax County Government workshops , to learn about procurement with the County.
