Sixth Grade Team

Mr. Chierichella6th Grade Teacher Mr. Chierichella joined Coates Elementary in 2019. He joined FCPS in 2002. His undergraduate studies took place at The Pennsylvania State University. He attended Shenandoah University to obtain his Master of Science in Elementary Education. When not in school he enjoys travel, creating music, and spending time with family.
Mr. Green6th Grade Teacher Mr. Green is a native of Redlands, California. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences. He has an extensive background in working with young people. He previously served as a 5th -8th Grade teacher, Youth Pastor, Child Protective Services Case Manager and a Youth and Family Specialist. Mr. Green's commitment to students is characterized by an unwavering commitment and compassion to raise up leaders that walk in integrity and with insight.
Mrs. Grubbs6th Grade Teacher Mrs. Grubbs is returning to the 6th grade team for her second year! She earned her Bachelors and Masters degree at James Madison University. This will be her 12th year teaching, 9th year in Fairfax County. Mrs. Grubbs loves learning about all subjects, especially reading! She has taught grades 1-5. Mrs. Grubbs was born and raised here in Virginia. She loves the changing of the seasons and all the fun activities Virginia has to offer! She can be found going for walks, hikes or traveling to new places! She loves reading and doing her own nails. Mrs. Grubbs' favorite place to be is the beach with her Husband and three pups, Rocky, Oreo and Doug.
Mr. Heaps6th Grade Teacher Originally from Napa, California and received a Bachelors in Elementary Education at George Mason University. This is my second year at Coates Elementary and very excited to be teaching 6th grade again!
Ms. Keune6th Grade Teacher I was born and raised in a small town south of Richmond, VA. I received my Masters Degree in Mathematics Leadership through George Mason University and have been in education for 18 years-15 of those years in Title 1. I love learning different languages and cultures, trying different foods and cuisines, travelling, boardgames and anything sports or outdoors. I have 2 boys ages 5 and 3 that keep me very busy. This is my second year teaching 6th Grade and I look forward to working alongside some of the best at Coates!
Mr. Nicolas6th Grade Teacher My name is Alexander Nicolas and I have been teaching in Virginia since 2019. I have a degree in Childhood Education with a concentration in Environmental Studies. I love writing, drawing and nature. Some of my favorite student to teacher interactions are when we find wildlife at recess.
