10 Amazing Qualities

International Baccalaureate (IB) Program

Justice High School was the first high school in Fairfax County Public Schools to adopt the IB curriculum in 1996. As of 2025, of the eight IB schools in FCPS, Justice has the third highest number of IB Diploma candidates. Approximately, 15% of the senior class of 2026 are IB diploma candidates. In May 2024, over 1,300 students took at least one IB course, the highest participation rate in school history. Justice High School offers 23 IB courses, in 6 subject areas. As an IB for All school, all students take an IB English course in their junior and senior years.

Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) Program

AVID is in its 20th year at Justice High School and Glasgow Middle School, with over 500 students enrolled in the program, grades 6 – 12. AVID is an academic mentoring program and a separate elective class designed to increase the rigor of coursework taken by Justice and Glasgow students and support students in reaching the goal of attending college. Since AVID’s implementation in 2005,  the number of students taking multiple IB courses at Justice High School has tripled. Over the past five years,  70% of our AVID graduates enrolled in a four-year college, with the other 30% attending community college or enlisting in the military.

Below is a list of colleges our recent AVID graduates attend. We are extremely proud of the places our AVID alumni go and love that they return to Justice High School to speak to our next generation of students and inspire them to go to college.

ThreeNew Building Addition

A brand new addition containing 29 classrooms opened at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. Each classroom in the new wing has brand new, state-of-the-art technology and new furniture for students and teachers. There is representation fromnew buildingall departments in the new wing, ensuring all students can have a class in the new part of the building. Additionally, our cafeteria was extended to provide additional space and an outdoor classroom was added as a resource. Justice is the first high school to have a completed outdoor classroom. The focus on each space was to invite more light into the area, provide state-of-the-art technology in the new STEM Design Lab, and fill larger classrooms with new furniture. Later this school year, our students and teachers will be able to enjoy the new Outdoor Classroom space located in the courtyard between D/E Hall. This space will include a rainwater collection irrigation system to support the plants and trees native to Virginia.

Justice HS Arts

Justice High School is proud to offer a wonderfully robust selection of art courses through our Visual Arts Department of seven art teachers, including Studio Art, Ceramics, Photography, Digital Art, Jewelry, and IB Art (for juniors and seniors). Every spring, Justice High School hosts three consecutive art exhibits and receptions for the community to enjoy.  The Justice HS Art Show displays works of art created by the high school students in our art classes, the IB Art Show is designed by seniors in the IB Art diploma program as part of their IB exam, and the K-12 Justice Pyramid Art Show exhibits selected works from both Justice art students and art students who attend the elementary schools and middle school in the Justice pyramid.   Justice HS is one of two high schools in FCPS that offer jewelry classes where students learn how to make bracelets, necklaces, anklets, and earrings using a variety of different jewelry materials. Art students at Justice HS have won numerous regional and national Scholastic Art awards, have been selected to attend The Governor’s School for the Arts, and have gone on to create art in colleges and art schools across the country.

Justice High School offers an award-winning Performing Arts program. Each of our performing arts - Band, Chorus, Orchestra, and Theatre - have been recognized with high merits in their chosen field. The program regularly collaborates with Glasgow Middle School Performing Arts programs to partner with concerts and performances. Justice HS Choir also annually performs with the NOVA Community College Chorus. Highlights from our programs from School Year 2024-2025 include:

  • Justice HS had the largest number of chorus participants chosen to be in the District and State Chorus
  • Justice's Wolfpack Theatre had eight Cappie Award nominations with two winners: Lead Actor in a Male Role in a Play and Supporting Actor in a Male Role in a Play.
  • The band is a fourteen-time Virginia Honor Band. The Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the prestigious Concert Band Festival hosted by Music For All three times in the last twelve years. It requires an application and audition in order to be accepted and invited to perform. The Wind Ensemble has also performed at the Virginia Music Educators Conference.
  • Justice HS consistently receives “Superior” ratings at the VBODA State Assessments and has orchestra students chosen to be part of the District Senior and District Junior Honors Orchestras every year.

Performing Arts is celebrating two consecutive years of attaining Blue Ribbon status, meaning that all programs received superior ratings, which is the highest rating a program can achieve.

Student Athletics and Activities

Justice High School offers a vibrant athletic and activity program, featuring 60-70 diverse clubs and supporting eight Virginia High School League (VHSL) academic activities, alongside 29 sports programs and 44 competitive teams. As a proud member of the VHSL, Justice ranks among the top schools for athletic participation, averaging around 900 student-athletes each year over the past five years.

These student-athletes excel both on the field and in the classroom. Data from the last five years shows that an average of 82% of athletes maintain a 3.0 GPA during their season, with an impressive 68% achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Over the past five years, Justice teams have celebrated 15 District Championships, including three teams winning their first-ever titles in school history. Additionally, from 2016 to 2024, 56 Justice athletes have successfully advanced to collegiate athletics, highlighting the school’s commitment to fostering both academic and athletic excellence.

Parent University and Community Engagement

Justice High School is committed to strong partnerships with our community, recognizing that student success is best achieved when schools and families share responsibility in supporting learning and growth. In the fall of 2023, Justice launched Parent University, an initiative designed to help families better understand attendance regulations, responsibilities, and consequences.

With ongoing feedback from families, Parent University has evolved into a more comprehensive, quarterly program. Its mission is to strengthen school-family partnerships by equipping parents and guardians with the knowledge and tools they need to support their child’s academic, social-emotional, and future success.

Each quarterly Parent University event begins with a shared family dinner and is followed by interactive sessions designed to:

  • Build a digital toolboxto access and monitor student performance and maintain communication with teachers. Families also revisit how digital platforms like ParentVUE, Talking Points, and Schoology reinforce accountability for attendance, grades, and assignments.
  • Explore academic advisingso families can help students make thoughtful course selections. These discussions highlight the connection between consistent attendance, course success, and long-term college and career readiness.
  • Discuss social and emotional learningstrategies to navigate the unique challenges of adolescence. Families learn that establishing strong routines, including attendance habits, supports students’ well-being and academic engagement.
  • Prepare for testing seasonby sharing approaches to reduce stress around SOLs, International Baccalaureate exams, and WIDA assessments. These sessions emphasize the importance of attendance during instructional time leading up to exams, ensuring students feel confident and supported.

In addition to Parent University, Justice High School continues to host family engagement nights focused on curriculum, IB, college readiness, and best practices to support student achievement. Together, these efforts reflect Justice’s commitment to fostering a culture where families and educators work side by side to ensure every student thrives today and is prepared for the opportunities of tomorrow.

Justice High School Name

Justice High School, formerly known as JEB Stuart High School, was renamed in July 2018. The mascot was also renamed to the "Wolves" adding a new motto "We are one."

The "Justice" name was chosen to support that every student who attends Justice High School will be provided with a safe and respectful environment. The name also honors Thurgood Marshall, Barbara Rose Johns, and Louis Gonzaga Mendez, Jr. The three individuals were identified by our community for not just living in our community but for their roles in championing equal rights, inclusiveness, and justice for all. In the Fall of 2025, Justice unveiled a new alternate logo, showcasing the resilience of our amazing community.

Justice High School Scholarship Fund and Partners

The Justice High School Scholarship Fund (JHSSF) is a volunteer organization that raises money for last-dollar, needs-based scholarships for Justice High School students. These scholarships are supported through generous donations from past alumni/community members and are only awarded to Justice High School current seniors. The Justice High School Scholarship Fund is the largest foundation in FCPS offering scholarships with large monetary value to its base school. The scholarships range from the cost of covering books/materials for one year up to $20,000 renewable for four years. JHSSF has awarded over $3,000,000 to help Justice HS graduates take the important first step toward a college degree since it began. JHSSF awarded over $300,000 to 91 recipients of the Justice High School Class of 2024.

Food for Neighbors

Justice High School is a proud partner with Food for Neighbors (FFN), a local organization that helps to feed our students outside of school hours. FFN provides a variety of opportunities for our students/families to receive food throughout the school year.

FFN collects food from the surrounding community via the Red Bag Program and donates it directly to their partner local schools. For Justice High School, the food is distributed weekly to students through our Wolf Shack Pantry. Community members can make a difference in a student's life by simply adding a few extra items to your grocery shopping cart every two months. Through FFN's Holiday Meals program, FFN provides 20 Giant Gift Cards worth $50 to Justice High School to support students during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays as well as Spring Break. Justice High School prioritizes students/families who are not already receiving food assistance through a Food Bank, FCPS Homeless and Foster Care Office, Fairfax County Community Services Board, and other major resources.
