Oakton Elementary Earns Purple Star Designation

We are proud to announce that Oakton Elementary Schoolhas been recognized for the first time as a 2025 Purple Star School!

This prestigious designation is awarded by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children.

The Purple Star Designation recognizes military-friendly schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.

OES is one of 49 Fairfax County Public Schools to newly earn this honor, bringing the total number of Purple Star Schools in FCPS to 145, nearly 75% of all schools.

"I’m proud of FCPS’ strong partnership with our nation’s military families to help support the more than 12,700 military-connected students enrolled in our schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid.
