Guidelines for Snacks & Birthday Treats
Snacks
Students should bring a daily snack from home. To ensure the safety of all children, snacks must follow these guidelines:
- Nut-Free When Required:If a child in the class has a severe allergy, the homeroom teacher will notify families. In these cases, all snacks sent to school must be nut-free.
- No Shared Food:For health and safety reasons, food should not be brought in to share with classmates at any time (e.g., birthdays, holidays, or special occasions).
- Healthy Choices Encouraged:Families are encouraged to pack nutritious snacks that support student focus and learning throughout the day.
Birthday Celebrations at WSES
To keep all students safe, birthday treats, food, snacks, cupcakes, and treat bags may not be sent in or distributed at school.
Instead, families are encouraged to celebrate by dedicating a book in their child’s name to the classroom library. The book can be read aloud on the student’s birthday and enjoyed by classmates for years to come.
At WSES, we love to make birthdays special! Each child will:
- Receive a birthday pencil from the main office
- Hear their name announced on the school TV
- Be celebrated by classmates and their teacher throughout the day
Please note: Birthday party invitations may not be distributed in class or sent home in the Thursday Folder unless the entire class is invited.
