School meals are an important part of many students' daily nutrition. Snow days don't have to mean missed meals! Our Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) team has been working tirelessly to distribute meal kits to students throughout the snow days this week.

The kits, containing meals and snacks have been available for students and families to pick up at multiple school sites throughout the division. The meal kits included breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items that can be heated and served at home, such as pancakes, chicken sandwiches, vegan burgers, turkey sandwiches, fresh apples, fresh carrots, juice, milk, sunflower seeds, Craisins, and Cheez-Its.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, more than 3,000 meals and 1,000 snacks were provided to students at four locations: Falls Church, Herndon, Justice, and Mount Vernon high schools.

On Thursday alone, more than 4,000 meals and 1,330 snacks were provided to students, and three additional distribution locations opened: Dogwood, London Towne, and Lynbrook elementary schools. Thanks so much to the FNS staff for their efforts in providing meals to our students!
