Verification of Employment and Records Requests

Policies and procedures for requesting employment verifications and other records within FCPS

In response to telephone or written requests, such as Freedom of Information Act (FOIA ) disclosures, without signed authorization of the employee, the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Department of Human Resources shall verify only the following information:

  • Job title
  • Date of last hire and date of separation, if applicable
  • Salary or rate of pay and records of the allowances or reimbursements for expenses of employees whose annual rate of pay is more than $10,000

Third-Party Vendor Experience and/or Income Verifications

  • Log in at www.verifent.com . Please note that new Verifent users will need to register and create an account before proceeding. 

  • When prompted, enter our unique organization code:  ADDACF  

  • Please be prepared to provide the employee’s date of birth and the last four digits of the Social Security Number.

FCPS provides the following types of employment verifications for current and former employees.

Getting Started

  • Visit www.verifent.com . Click Get Started.
  • Under Employee, click Login.
    • If you do not have login credentials, please click Register. You will need to create an account.
  • On the left, under Actions, click Request EV.
  • Click Choose Your Hiring Entity.
    • If your Hiring Entity does not drop down as you type, choose Hiring Entity Not Found, and select the State where your Hiring Entity is located (see step 2 below).
  • Click Save Hiring Entityand Continue.

Entering Your Information through Verifent

  • Choose the forms to request.
  • Enter your information and click I Agree.

Adding Fairfax County Public Schools as a Former Employer

  • Click Enter ALL Former Employers.
  • Enter the Former Employer(s) that you need an Experience Verification from.
    • One of your former employers needs to be “Fairfax County Public Schools – VA”.
    • If your Current or Former Employer(s) do not drop down as you type, click Former Employer Not Found, and enter the information requested.
    • **Note: Multiple Former Employers can be selected**
  • Click Close, select your Last Place of Employment, and click Next Step.
  • Confirm your order by clicking Next Step.
  • Review and submit your verification request(s).

For verification of employment income requests that are requested by the employee, please submit requests to [email protected] .

All requests for completion of the PSLF form must go through Verifent.

Getting Started

Visit  www.verifent.com . Click  Get Started.

Under Employee, click  Login.         If you do not have login credentials, please click  Register. You will need to create an account.

On the left, under  Actions, click  Request PSLF.

Choose Employer

Click ‘Choose Your Employer.’

  • Select your employer needing to review your form. Click ‘Save Employer.’

  • Click ‘Continue…’

Complete Applicable Fields for the Required Sections

Section 1: Borrower Information

Section 2: Borrower Request, Understandings and Certification

Section 4: Employer Information

  •  Begin with your most recent start date

  • Additional Section 4 portions can be requested if there was a break in service

  • If you are unsure of the following data elements, they can be left blank for your employer to complete:

    • Employment or Certification Begin/End Date

    • Hours Per Week (Average)

Additional Message to Employer (if needed)

Signature: You must sign your name legibly for Federal Student Aid to accept the form

Employer Reviews/Completes Verification Request

The form will be sent to your employer to review/complete Section 4.

Once completed, FCPS will fax the form directly to Federal Student Aid. You will be notified via email and no further action is required. 

To view completed PSLF forms, please visit  www.verifent.com , click on the ‘Get Started’ button, and under ‘Employee’ click on ‘Login.’ Enter the information that is requested. Once inside the Employee Portal you can view the completed PSLF form.  

For teacher loan forgiveness employment verification, please submit your form to [email protected] .

Government Employment & Income Verifications

FCPS uses Verifent to securely and efficiently respond to all employment and income verification requests. This includes requests from government agencies processing public assistance, benefits, or social services.

By using this service, we ensure that sensitive employee data is handled securely and that your agency receives a response as quickly as possible.

Information for Government Verifiers

Who is a Verifier?Any government entity requesting employment or income information for a valid Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) permissible purpose. All verifiers must be credentialed and approved through the Verifent portal.

How to Submit a Verification Request

To obtain the information you need, government agencies must submit requests directly through Verifent:

  • Visit the Verifent Portal .
  • Register Your Agency:* Click "Get Started."
    • Under "Verifier,"select "Register".
  • Submit Your Request:Log in and follow the prompts to submit your request. For a step-by-step walkthrough, you can access Verifent's “Request an Employment or Income Verification” guide directly on their site.

What You Will Need

To complete your request successfully, please have the following information ready:

  • FCPS Organization Code:ADDACF
  • Consumer’s (Employee's) Full Name:As used during their employment with FCPS.
  • Date of Birth
  • Last 4 Digits of SSN
  • Proof of Consent

Current employees can log in to their  MyPDE account , the online system for communicating and registering professional development and training, at any time to retrieve their academic history. Once you’ve logged in, please click on “Learner Dashboard” on the left-hand side of the screen, then click on the “My Transcript” link. You will be able to view and download/print a copy of your MyPDE transcripts.

Former employees can visit the Educator Academy Program webpage and click on the "Request Professional Development Transcript" link.

If you graduated within the past five (5) years, please contact your high school, as they will have your transcript on file. If it’s beyond five (5) years of your graduation, you will need to contact the FCPS Records Center. Full instructions on how to make this request are available on our  Transcripts webpage .

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) does not release background check information to include fingerprinting, criminal history search records from the Virginia State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and child abuse and neglect records maintained by the Virginia Department of Social Services that were obtained during the pre-employment process.

In instances where another employer or sponsor is requesting preemployment information that was obtained by FCPS, the requestor will need to complete their own searches with the Virginia State Police, FBI, and/or Virginia Department of Social Services.
