Camp Activities

Camp Activity Details

Campers have a choice between choosing an off-site activity or staying at the camp receiving a second riding period such as a trail ride or a private lesson. When the activities last longer than 5 hours, such as whitewater rafting, we encourage for all girls to participate as it is an all day event.

Daily Activity Choices:
During the first two-three days of camp all activities are horse related. This enables the independent instructor to assess the riding ability of each camper. Once the week progresses, campers have a choice between an off-site activity: wilderness paintball, whitewater rafting, fly fishing, extreme tubing, zip lining and obstacle course, 4k obstacle race course, 46 high peak hiking AND an on-site horse related activity such as: an extra private lesson, a trail ride, a game, or a horsemanship training session.

The Camp Directors decide what activity is available for each day of the week as some activities are seasonal, such as The Warrior Run, and only appear in the area once a year.

      Evening Activities:
Several times a week, campers participate in evening activities: WildHorse camp fires, Lake Clear Beach camp fires, Adirondack night mini golf, watch latest movies at the theater in Lake Placid, NY,  WildHorse dvd nights,  WildHorse staff evening games & skits (capture the flag, balloon stomp, water balloon dodge ball, outdoor pictionary, cup races, telephone, etc)

      All-Day Activities:
All-day activities, from start to finish (from when we leave the camp to when we return), can be from 8-12 hours in duration. Whitewater Rafting, for example, the campers leave the camp at 6:30 am, have breakfast on the road, arrive at rafting headquarters at around 8:30, have a safety orientation, get loaded into rafting buses, load their rafts into river, have lunch on the river, return back to headquarters at 4:30 pm, have a dinner at a restaurant at 5:30.

      Main St. Activities:
Main Street is the activity center of Lake Placid, NY. When an activity such as Boots & Birdies mini golf, Palace movie theater, extreme tubing and water skiing on Lake Placid are being booked for the day, the campers are brought to several Adirondack gift stores to shop for the afternoon before leaving camp and returning home. During Main Street Days, the girls can also request special food items, toiletries or personal items that they may need back at camp.

      Special. Activities:
Special Activities are picked by a camper's parent by request. These activities cost extra and are subject to availability as they are offered by independent guides and instructors. Examples of specialty activities: Fly Fishing at the Hungry Trout, Water Skiing at Adk Aquatics, The Bobsled Experience by ORDA, Rock Climbing by The Mountaineer, Cave Exploration / Adventure Tour by Bridges & Caves.
