Wynonna Judd was born in Ashland, Kentucky, on May 30, 1964. After being abandoned by Wynonna’s biological father, Charles Jordan, Naomi Judd married Michael Ciminella. Naomi and Michael had a second daughter, Ashley. The family relocated to Los Angeles in 1968, but their marriage broke down in 1972.
Naomi Judd made the decision to bring her two girls back to Kentucky four years later, in 1976. Wynonna was influenced by her mother’s musical preferences at this time and grew to love country music. As she started to learn how to play the guitar, her singing prowess became apparent.
The family made an important decision to relocate to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1979 in order to pursue a career in the music industry.
