皆さんはどのようにして英単語を覚えるようにしていますか？
私は、「知らない英単語はない！」と豪語しています。
豪語していると、不思議なことに、どんな英単語も簡単に覚えてしまいます。
今日は、私が出会った単語の中から、英米の知識人に一目置かれるような「知的な英単語」を選んで紹介します。
【今日の単語】
６月２６日の英単語は、「de trop」。
（例）I thought her remarks about Roger's recent problems were rather de trop .
“Monsieur de Trop”なんて言われないようにしたいものです。
【前回の単語】
ところで、６月２２日の「profligate」（She is well-known for her profligate spending habits.）
いかがでしたか？
profligateの意味は、浪費する、不品行な
wasteful with money、
という意味です。

チョコレートで脳力アップ？
Researchers had a group of subjects（被験者） consume different types of chocolate and then complete a variety of tasks designed to test cognitive（認識の、認知の） performance.
After controlling for variables（変数）, the researchers noted that verbal （言葉の）and visual memory scores were higher for milk chocolate eaters, while milk and dark chocolate eaters had improved impulse control and reaction time.
Chocolate contains substances that act as stimulants（興奮剤）, such as theobromine and caffeine.
