皆さんはどのようにして英単語を覚えるようにしていますか？
私は、「知らない英単語はない！」と豪語しています。
豪語していると、不思議なことに、どんな英単語も簡単に覚えてしまうのです。
このコーナーでは、「実用英単語」を選んで紹介します。
単語のレベルは「英検１級」レベルを選んでいます。
「英語」は「単語」です。
単語を覚えれば、高価な英語教材は必要ありません。
知っている単語は、聞けます、話せます。
どうせ覚えるなら、「英検1級レベルの単語」を覚えましょう。
世界が広がります。
【今日の単語】
１０月２６日の英単語は、「fan」。
（例） The newspapers deliberately fanned the public's fears of losing their jobs.
fan the violence/hatred という使い方もあります。
【前回の単語】
１０月２２日の「con」
（I was conned into buying a useless car.）
いかがでしたか？
conの意味は、ペテンにかける、
trick somebody, especially in order to get money from them or persuade them to do something for you,
という意味です。
conには、pro and conという使いかたもありますね。

視力回復にも効果？
According to new research, a drug that prevents sight loss could also help people regain some vision.
Lucentis (ranibizumab) is used to treat wet age-related macular degeneration（加齢黄斑変性症）(wet AMD), a disorder that results in new blood vessels growing behind the retina（網膜）, which causes bleeding and scarring.
A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that the drug can prevent vision loss in around nine out of 10 patients.
Around a third of those receiving the drug also noticed improvement in their sight.
