According to a recent study, a lack of sleep among teenagers may trigger depression and suicidal thoughts. Researchers found that teens who consistently went to bed after midnight were 24% more likely to be depressed than those who went to sleep before 10 PM, and youngsters whose parents set their bed times for after midnight were 20% more likely to think about suicide than those whose bedtime was 10 PM or earlier. Furthermore, study participants who slept fewer than five hours a night had a 71% higher risk of depression than those who slept eight hours.
