英語で髪型を表現できる？

日本語でも髪型をうまく説明するのって、美容師さんならともかく普通の人は意外と苦手ではないでしょうか？ましてや英語ではなかなか出てこないものですね。　straight, long, short, pony-tail ぐらいは日本語でもそのまま使ってますから大丈夫ですが、 Nova のレッスンで習ったいくつかの言葉をロングマン現代アメリカ英語辞典〔普及版〕から見てみましょう。

* wavy - wavy hair grows in loose curls

* curly - having a lot of curls

* parted - if you part your hair, you separate it into two parts with a comb so that it looks neat (parted down the middle, parted on the left, parted on the right)

* neat - carefully arranged and not messy

* windblown - hair is blown by the wind

* braid - a length of hair that has been separated into three parts and then woven together

* bangs - hair cut straight across your forehead

* swept-back - hair that is swept-back is brushed backward from your face

* bun - a hairstyle in which a woman with long hair fastens it in a small round shape at the back of her head

* bald - having little or no hair on your head

* balding - a balding man is losing the hair on his head

* thinning - someone with thinning hair is losing their hair, so that in the future they will become bald

* recede - if hear recedes, it gets further and further away until it disappears:
