尊敬する人を英語で表現しましょう

みなさんの尊敬する人はどんな人ですか？その人を尊敬する理由は何ですか？具体的には、歴史上の著名な人物とか、有名な政治家、科学者、芸術家、経営者などで求められる資質は異なってきますね。また身近な人で、両親や教師、友人や会社の上司や同僚にも尊敬できる人はいるのではありませんか？

Nova のレッスンで習った尊敬する人の資質を表現する言葉をロングマン現代アメリカ英語辞典〔普及版〕からいくつか見てみましょう。

* vision - the knowledge and imagination that are needed in planning for the future with a clear purpose

* leadership - the quality of being good at leading a team, organization, country etc.

* courage - the quality of being brave when you are in danger, in pain, in a difficult situation etc.

* creativity - the ability to use your imagination to produce or use new ideas, make things etc.

* integrity - the quality of being honest and of always having high moral principles

* strength of character - the qualities of being a good person

* compassion - a strong feeling of sympathy for people who are suffering, and a desire to help them

* dedicated - someone who is dedicated works very hard at what they do because they care a lot about it

* originality - the quality of being completely new and different from anything that anyone has thought of before

* skillful - good at doing something, especially something that needs special ability or training

* determination - the quality of trying to do something even when it is difficult

* diligent - someone who is diligent works hard and carefully

* modesty - behaving or talking about your achievements in a way that is not proud

* patient - able to wait calmly for a long time or to accept difficulties, people's annoying behavior etc. without becoming angry or anxious

* tolerant - allowing people to do, say, or believe what they want without punishing or criticizing them

* generous - willing to give more money, time etc. than is expected to help someone or give them pleasure

あなたが尊敬する人はどんな言葉が当てはまりますか？多くのひとから尊敬される人というのは、上記の資質のほとんどを兼ね備えているのではないでしょうか？
