記事のアップが遅くなりましたが、
4月からは実践ビジネス英語にチャレンジしています。
今年1月から、ビジネス英会話も聞いていました。
今のところ難しくはないですが、5月からは難しくなると言う噂も見ました。
単語、クリスさんの説明などわからないことばかりですが、
メルマガの「NHKビジネス英語を120%利用」 や
多くの皆さんの素晴らしいビジネス会話の記事のブログなどを参考にし、
やり方も探りながら、自分なりに復習していきます。
First Day at Work(1)
headquarters [ 本社
=the main building or offices used by a large company or organization
be headquartered
=to have your headquarters at a particular place:
*Many top companies are headquartered in northern California.(LDOCE)
#but if you are using it to mean authority, so,
for example, you get approval from headquarters, then it tends to be singular.
＊本社と言う意味の名詞ででは複数形。動詞では通常、受動態で用いられる。「本社の承認を得る」というように、権限を意味して使う時は単数形もあり。LDOCEでは形容詞としてのみのエントリー
launch and relaunch new and old products
launch
=to make a new product, book etc available for sale for the first time
divestiture [ 子会社分割
butterflies
=to be nervous
have/get butterflies(in your stomach)
=to feel very nervous before doing something:
Great Lakes
=the Great Lakes a group of five lakes along the border between the US and Canada.

basic information kit [ 基礎資料一式
＊ここでのkitはpacketとほぼ同じ意味
kit
=a set of tools, equipment etc that you use for a particular purpose or activity
packet
=a quantity of information that is sent as a single unit from one computer to another on a network or on the Internet
fill in/out a form (=write the answers to the questions on a form)
#If you "fill something out," you complete it, a form usually. If you "fill something in," it means you write in the blanks. Most of the time, it's the same result, but "fill out" includes the idea of completion. And "fill in" just focuses on putting something in the
blank areas, giving answers .
＊fill in /out はほぼ同じだが、fill in は空白部分に書きこむことを意味する。fill outは完全に書くという感じ？
drink on company time
= 勤務時間中にお酒を飲む
jumpy [ いらだつ、神経質な =worried or nervous especially because you are expecting something bad to happen [= anxious]

NHKのホームページのほうでも聞けるけど、杉田先生の番組録音したMDはお守りみたいなもので、ないと落ち着かない～～え～ん（泣）
