I lost my earring while I was wearing it AGAIN.
This time was (Amy’s) diamond earring.
Last month I lost a diamond charm at the spa.
Jenny and I checked everywhere, but we couldn’t find it.

My mom says “When you lose/break the thing you wear or treasure,
it became your vicarious sacrifice. You avoided calamity.”

She is always a positive thinker.

However, I don’t know how my mom can solace my friend now.

A tragic hit and run accident has taken the life of her oldest son.
He was struck while riding his bike.
He was only 25 years old.
He worked few years after graduated from HS and just graduated from collage this spring.
He got married two years ago with his HS sweet heart.
I feel like it was yesterday, thinking a song for Mother/Son dance with her.

She has suffered a series of misfortunes.
Her cousin was riding bike and hit by lighting and died few years ago.
Her sister-in-low died on an accident with a truck.

I wish there were something I could say to make her feel better.


ピアスのイヤリングを紛失してしまいました。
気が付いたら左の耳につけていたダイヤの一つが留め金とも無くなっていたのです。
先月はスパでネックレスに付けていたダイヤのチャームを紛失。
どちらも小さい物なので高価ではないけど残念です。

母が｢ダイヤが身代わりになってくれたのよ。」と言ってくれています。

母に言わせると大事にしているものを紛失したり壊した場合は
持ち主の身代わりになってくれて大きな災難から逃れた証なのだそうです。

ポジティブ思考の母らしい慰め方ですね。

友人の息子さんがひき逃げ事故にあって一昨日亡くなりました。
働きながら今年大学を卒業して仕事のトレーニング期間を
テキサスで過ごしていたところです。
二年前に先に大学を卒業していた高校時代のスイートハートと結婚。
披露宴恒例の母と息子のダンス曲を私も一緒に色々考えたのが
昨日のような気がします。
彼女の義姉がトラックとの追突事故で死亡、
三年前には従弟が自転車に乗っていて落雷で即死、
今回は息子さんがバイキング中に車に跳ねられ崖に墜落。

私には彼女を慰める言葉が見つかりません。
