Actor, director, race car driver, and philanthropist(慈善家)Paul Newman lost his battle with cancer on Friday, leaving a legacy that will live on in his absence. Newman appeared in over 50 films during his six decade acting career, including such classic films as Cool Hand Luke and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. In 1982, the 10-time Academy Award nominee launched(始める)the Newman's Own food products company. The film legend’s multimillion-dollar business became a vector(動因、影響力)for his philanthropic leanings(傾向), and over the years, the Newman's Own Foundation has donated some $250 million to charitable causes(運動、福祉).
