According to a recent study, adults who suffer from migraine headaches are more likely to have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)(心的外傷後ストレス障害)than members of the general population. Roughly 30% of chronic, daily migraine sufferers and about 22% of those with "episodic(時たまの、気まぐれの)" migraine headaches were found to have PTSD, while just 8% of the general population is estimated to struggle with the disorder. The most common cause of PTSD is interpersonal(対人関係の、個人間の)trauma, and some 65% of migraine patients with PTSD also reported suffering physical or sexual abuse. Researchers believe the data indicate that abuse causes not only psychological distress but physical pain such as migraines as well.
