NZで、この'text-speak'を全国的な試験に使ってもよいことになるというニュースを見つけましたので
CNNから抜粋しました。
・・・私は賛成できないですね。みなさんは、どう思われますか？

今日はスラッシュをつけませんが、いつものように意味のかたまりごとに理解しつつ、
訳し上げ無しで、先へ先へと読み進めてくださいね。
綺麗な日本語の文章に直さず、英語の語順のまま理解するのが理想です。
意味が分からない単語は調べる前にまず類推で。

New Zealand students may 'text-speak' in exams
ニュージーランドの学生、テストで「テキスト用語」使用可に

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP)　 New Zealand's high school students will be able to use "text-speak" ― the mobile phone text message language beloved of teenagers ― in national exams this year, officials said.
ウェリントン、ニュージーランド。ニュージーランドの高校生が「テキスト用語」が全国的な試験で使用可能になると当局が発表。「テキスト用語」とはティーンエイジャーが好んで使う、携帯電話のテキスト(文字列)による言語である。

Text-speak, a second language for thousands of teens, uses abbreviated words and phrases such as "txt" for "text", "lol" for "laughing out loud" or "lots of love," and "CU" for "see you."
「テキスト用語」それはティーンたちの二つ目の言語である。たとえばtextをtxt、laughing out loudや lots of loveをlol、see youをCUなどと、略した言葉を使用する。

The move has already divided students and educators who fear it could damage the English language.
この動きはすでに生徒と、英語にダメージを与えることを危惧する教育者を分断している。

New Zealand's Qualifications Authority said Friday that it still strongly discourages students from using anything other than full English, but that credit will be given if the answer "clearly shows the required understanding," even if it contains text-speak.
ニュージーランドの資格委員会は、生徒に完全な英語以外使わぬよう強く求めるが、もしテキスト用語が含まれていても、その答えが明らかに理解できるものであれば、履修証明を与えられるであろうと語った。

それぞれ何の略か分かりますか？(nzqaはNew Zealand Qualifications Authorityのこと。)

日本で問題のギャル文字よりも分かりやすくないですか？　まだ使われているのかな、ギャル文字。

答え："New Zealand Qualifications Authority: you must be joking, or are you smoking something?"
「ニュージーランド資格委員会、冗談だろ。それとも何か吸ってるのかい？」
