Dear Good Philosophy of Japanese CompanySometimes, even looking deeply into our own hearts is not enough to show us what it is we want to do with our lives. To live in a way that is true to oneself means not only looking inside our hearts. If the information we seek cannot be found in our own hearts, then we must look outside, out into the real world, and exercise our own free will to make our own choices. That is the true beginning of "living in a way that is true to oneself". LONDON, England (Reuters) -- France is well positioned as the world's sexiest nation, according to a global survey of lovemaking published on Tuesday. In a poll of more than 350,000 people, condom maker Durex found that lovers across the globe are having sex an average of 103 times per year, but the French are living up to their romantic reputation with an average of 137 times.Greeks and Hungarians followed close behind, with averages of 133 and 131 times a year.Americans, who topped the charts in 2000 at 132 times a year, have since fallen to the middle of the pack scoring just 111 times, suggesting they have either changed their habits in the bedroom or the way they respond to the survey. They are now tied with Israelis and beat Spaniards by a single extra annual lovemaking bout.Asian countries lag behind in the love stakes with the Japanese managing just 46 times per year and those in Hong Kong and Singapore just 79 times."As it was a Web-based survey, people could be very frank about their sex lives -- possibly even more so than with their partners," said Rosie Lodge, a spokeswoman for Durex."The results show the wide spectrum of sexual experience and attitudes across the globe and the high number of respondents ... shows that people are growing increasingly willing to talk about sex and their particular likes and dislikes." Britons lead the pack when it comes to foreplay, devoting an average of 22.5 minutes compared to a global average of 19.7. The fastest lovers were the Thais with just 11.5 minutes. But despite their efforts on foreplay, Britons appear to be among the least satisfied by their sexual experiences, with a third saying they had faked an orgasm in the last year. The Macedonians were the most satisfied with only 13 percent saying they had faked an orgasm and the Japanese are the least satisfied at 40 percent. The survey found that half of all respondents were more worried about HIV/AIDS than any other sexually transmitted disease. But a troubling 35 percent of people who took part in the survey admitted to having had unprotected sex without knowing their partner's sexual history. Those most likely to throw caution to the wind were the Danes and the Swedes, both on 64 percent, followed by the Japanese, Norwegians and South Africans, all at 58 percent. When it comes to spicing up sex lives, pornography emerged as the most popular choice, with more than a third of lovers worldwide admitting to having used porn.Pleasure-enhancing condoms were second and bondage equipment such as blindfolds and handcuffs third.

An alarming 76 per cent of employees are coming back to work drunk after taking a "liquid lunch", according to a new survey carried out by Peninsula employment law constancy. The results show that an increasing number of employees are consuming alcohol during their lunch break - a trend that could harm the reputation and productivity of a business.Out of the 1342 employees polled, 68 per cent said they enjoyed alcoholic beverages during lunch, the same percentage of those polled who said they found it hard to relax after their break unless they'd had a tipple.Peninsula is warning businesses of the detrimental effects that liquid lunches can have, especially when employees have to talk to important clients and customers. Penisula MD Peter Done said: "Liquid lunches are often associated with executives with their glass of red wine while discussing the future of their business in a conservative fashion. But in reality the idea of a liquid lunch could prove to be very damaging to businesses and potentially very dangerous, depending on the type of business that is in operation."Even more worrying is that a third of respondents (33 per cent) claimed to enjoy a liquid lunch three times a week with 76 per cent feeling slightly drunk when returning to work. "A company’s policies must be stated to all employees to ensure that the rules are not broken when it comes to alcohol," Done concluded.By Startups.co.uk

Dear American top boss Top boss? Not Bush or Kerry... ecretary of State Colin Powell named top boss in HR executives poll; Bush and Kerry last.October 25, 2004: 2:55 PM EDT NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Americans will choose between John Kerry and George Bush when they vote for president Nov. 2, but another government official outranks them both as the most preferred boss among seven prominent leaders, according to a survey released Monday.A survey of 100 human resource executives found that Secretary of State Colin Powell tops the list, followed by Microsoft (Research) co-founder Bill Gates, according to the study conducted by outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas. After Powell and Gates, the HR execs picked Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, real estate mogul Donald Trump, talk-show host David Letterman, Senator Kerry and President Bush."Obviously, everyone has his or her own ideas about what makes a good boss, but there are certain characteristics that most good bosses possess," said Challenger CEO John Challenger in a written statement. "They are typically good motivators. They know how to be tough at times, yet know how to reward and recognize good performance. They treat their employees fairly and with respect," he added. The HR executives were presented with the list and then asked to rank the candidates on a number basis, with one indicating the most preferred boss. The study noted that there are probably just a handful of people who work under Powell. But the firm believes most people would probably agree that he presents a public image that exudes the qualities of a good manager. Before heading the State Department, Powell was in charge of the millions who serve in the nation's military as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. From CNN MONEY

Automakers want to put wheelchair users in the driving seat. That's the message awaiting visitors of the 38th Tokyo Motor Show, opening next week at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba. The event this year features a large display of welfare vehicles specially outfitted for wheelchair users to drive by themselves. Toyota Motor Corp. will present a model under its Welcab concept for people with disabilities. The driver's seat and front passenger seat are both equipped with electric lifts, allowing wheelchair users to get in and out of the vehicle without help. Various Welcab functions are available on many Toyota vehicles already on the road. Honda Motor Co.'s Almas concept vehicle is outfitted with a mechanism operated by remote control that lifts and stores a wheelchair into a space in front of the back seat after the owner is in the driver's seat. The Tokyo Motor Show is the auto industry's annual showcase. Passenger cars and motorcycles are exhibited one year, followed by commercial vehicles the following year. The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, organizer of the show, has for the first time officially added barrier-free vehicles to the regular theme of commercial vehicles this year. Some 43,000 vehicles designed for those with disabilities were sold in Japan in fiscal 2003, a tenfold increase from a decade earlier. ``Demand for barrier-free vehicles will be strong in the coming years,'' says an official at a major automaker. Ecology and safety will be the highlights for exhibits of commercial vehicles. Nissan Diesel Motor Co. will introduce a new anti-pollution system for large trucks and buses. The system sprays a urea solution into the exhaust gas to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides. Hino Motors Ltd. will present a concept truck equipped with an advanced system to absorb the shock in a collision. For mobile street vendors, Suzuki Motor Corp. will present a hatchback designed to display merchandise on shelves in the back, side and even inside the passenger door when open. Troubled by a string of defect coverup scandals and vehicle recalls, Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is keeping a low profile at the show, exhibiting only five cars already on the market. Likewise, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. is displaying only three vehicles, including a concept truck. This year's show will be open to the public from Nov. 3 to 7. The organizer says 111 companies from six countries will exhibit 217 vehicles, including 35 vehicles that will be shown to the public for the first time.(IHT/Asahi: October 27,2004) (10/27

Dear Delta Goodrem hurt by Paris Hilton fling DELTA Goodrem is devastated by revelations Mark Philippoussis has been cheating on her with American socialite Paris Hilton. "Delta is really upset," a source close to the Goodrem family said.A close friend told the Herald Sun Goodrem would not be ringing Philippoussis to talk about the scandal."She has too much class to bother talking to him," the friend said. Paris Hilton revealed at the weekend she was having a relationship with Philippoussis."I've got a new man, and I'm head over heels in love," she said. "I adore him, he's so hot. His name is Mark Philippoussis."Producing an SMS mobile phone photo of Philippoussis in board shorts, Hilton then said her new beau had broken up with Goodrem because she was "boring".While Philippoussis, 27, is wooing the 23-year-old hotel heiress, Goodrem is in London promoting her new single a love song about the Scud.Goodrem's mum, Lea, was preparing to fly to London to comfort Delta, 19, who is heartbroken over her shattered nine-month romance.A defiant Mark Philippoussis yesterday refused to talk about his actions.Philippoussis repeatedly refused to deny he had been involved with Hilton."You will just write what you want," he said."I'm not going to say anything. I have nothing to say now."Philippoussis then happily chatted about the four hours of surfing he has every day, his plan to skip a coming tennis tournament in Stockholm, and his desire to win a Grand Slam and his training. He finished the conversation by saying "if you look after me I will look after you".It is believed Delta Goodrem and her family were especially surprised Philippoussis had been involved with Hilton, a notorious man-eater."I mean, Paris Hilton of all people," an insider said. "If it was a nice girl – but Paris Hilton?"Hilton has been linked to actor Leonardo DiCaprio, boxer Oscar de la Hoya and finalist Robert Mills.Yesterday Lea Goodrem would not comment about her daughter, but it is believed Goodrem's relationship with the Melburnian had been on the rocks for almost a fortnight after a story appeared about a photo of Philippoussis and another woman, taken in California. The woman, known only as Brooke, is a friend of Philippoussis from Cardiff-by-the-Sea, just north of San Diego where Philippoussis spends time surfing and socialising. In the past two weeks, Goodrem suspected something may have been going on with Philippoussis when she was unable to contact him several times. It is believed the Goodrem family is furious with Philippoussis, especially at a time when she has to face the public, heavily promoting a new album."He knew she had these commitments," the was told. "It's awful. She is a really happy girl and everything was going so well and now this."Goodrem and Philippoussis started dating in January when she was recovering from her well-publicised battle with Hodgkin's disease.Philippoussis sent Goodrem flowers and initially the singer's family was impressed with the good-looking Davis Cup winner and Wimbledon and US Open runner-up."In the initial honeymoon period he was really nice," a friend of the family said. "But I think she fell for him when she was vulnerable."A friend of the singer said she had no doubt Goodrem would get over the upset."This will make her stronger, she will spend some time thinking and dissecting this and will them move on."She has got over much more than this." Dear Heaven's near neighbourTHE memory of the March 11 train bombings still haunts Madrid but Madrilenos have moved on as they focus on their bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games. Sunset over the Spanish capital In the six months since the tragedy a host of new hotels, galleries, shops and restaurants has burst on to the scene as Europe's highest capital spruces up its image. Madrid is a red-blooded city with an insatiable appetite for art, culture, flamenco and food where the altitude, 660m, guarantees hot dry summers and freezing winters. But spring and autumn are beautiful in the city locals claim is the next best place to heaven. Morning Plaza Mayor is a beautiful square and has been Madrid's most popular meeting place for four centuries. It has artists and street musicians and is surrounded by cafes and eccentric little shops selling must-haves like Russian bearskins, matadors' fedoras and tarot cards. Palacio Real, Europe's largest royal palace, has more than 2000 luxuriously decorated rococo rooms, 50 of which can be visited. These include the Porcelain Room, the Throne Hall with red velvet walls and the 400sq m dining room. Across town, the Parque del Retiro is Madrid's largest, most attractive and most popular park, 130ha of woodlands, avenues of tall trees, rose gardens and a lake with rentable rowboats. On Sundays and holidays El Rastro claims to be the world's largest flea market. There's everything imaginable on sale here, plenty of kitsch and a lot of pickpockets. Leave your wallet in the hotel safe. Lunch There are hundreds of traditional tapas bars where the wondrous morsels are served with beer and wine. One of the best is Albur (Manuela Malasana 15). Another local epicurean tradition is Cocido Madrileno – stewed chicken, beef and pork with chickpeas and vegetables. At La Bola Taverna (La Bola 5) it's cooked in a claypot over a wood fire. Specialties at Restaurant Botin (Calle de Cuchilleros 17) are roast suckling pig ($32) and roast baby lamb ($33). La Taberna Antonio Sanchez (Meson de Paredes 13) has Castilian fare plus their famous oxtail. Afternoon See Madrid's world-class art museums the Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Reine Sofia housing European masters and local heroes including Goya, Picasso, Velasquez and Dali. The Museum of Costume on Complutense University campus opened in March with a huge collection including billowing, frilly frocks, folk outfits, bull-fighting suits and Chanel skirts. If you're up to it, the bullfight season runs from March to October. Las Ventas bullring, or La Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, built in 1929, is the place to go. Day trips Don't miss historic, heritage-listed Toledo, 70km southwest of Madrid, former imperial capital where El Greco lived and painted. There's a magnificent cathedral, imposing city walls, narrow cobbled streets, great cafes and a wealth of history. Take a train or bus. Another Unesco-listed town, Cuenca, is a medieval city set in a beautiful landscape. Famous for its "hanging houses" built precariously on a cliff face high above the valley, Cuenca also has fine gothic cathedral and Museum of Abstract Art. Nearby is the Ciudad Encantada, the "enchanted city", strange rock forms created by erosion. Ski year-round on a 250m indoor ski slope at the Parque de Nieve (Snow Park) in the south of the city in a shopping centre complex with shops, bars and restaurants. In winter at Navacerrada, an hour north of Madrid, there are real pistes frequented by the royal family and lesser Madrilenos. The area is accessible by train. Nightlife Watch a fabulous flamenco show over dinner at El Cafe de Chinitas (Calle Torijas 7). Indulge in tapas and wine at El Anciano Rey de los Vinos (Calle Bailen 19), one of Madrid's most popular wine bars since 1907. Manhattan Martini Bar (Calle Moratin 5) is one of the best cocktail bars in town and at La Bodeguita del Beny (Calle Tres Cruces 8) there is Cuban music, cocktails and Caribbean food.
