And whether you choose to marry or not is entirely up to you. There is such a thing as free will. Likewise, you have free will regarding whether or not to have children. However, once you’ve decided to have children, you have been blessed with the children who have come to you. And for both the children and you, their parents, this is not a coincidence—it is the result of choices you have already made through your free will.
I often see people lamenting things like their children’s gender or their children’s behavior. However, this is simply because the people with whom you had already formed a bond before coming to Earth are the ones who have come into your lives.
Therefore, lamenting that you have only girls, or that you cannot have a son, is essentially the same as lamenting your own plan. What did you come here to learn through such circumstances? And what did your children come here to learn? I believe we should view life in a positive light.
Why are only girls being born? Why, when it comes to succession to the throne, are only girls being born? It was the same for me. Why—my father, for example, lamented this deeply—but only girls were born, and my mother’s health deteriorated to the point where she could no longer bear children. It was a time when the very survival of the Habsburg dynasty was in jeopardy, and there were fears that the line of succession might be cut off.
But why was that? Well, if I may put it this way, it was also the historical context necessary for me to be born. In that context, my birth was the result of my pleading with my parents to let me come into this world. If I’d had an older or younger brother at that time, I would not have been able to complete my training. I would not have been able to fulfill the mission God had given me within that era.
Thinking about that, no boys were born around me. So—well, what do you think? I believe that the role I fulfilled was ultimately more important than having several mediocre boys born.
And in that context, my first three children were girls. It wasn’t just that we wanted a boy—it was almost a desperate wish. Not only my husband and I, but also the court officials around us and the entire nation were clamoring for a prince, a prince. The pressure was immense.
Personally, I found girls so adorable—I simply couldn’t get enough of them—so it really didn’t matter to me either way. However, given my position, a prince was what was expected of me. But if a boy had been born among my first three children, I would never have become Empress and fulfilled my role.
However, since only girls were born at first, it naturally led to the conclusion that, rather than having a husband who would marry into the family, it would be better to make me the queen and let me carry out the work.
And so, after the first daughters were born, and I had established myself in a prominent position—to some extent recognized by the people—as an empress and as a queen, a prince was born, as if they had been waiting for it.
Why was that? It means that everything was planned from the very beginning. Yes, so that each soul can fully express itself and practice spiritual discipline within its own environment—for that purpose, everything is predetermined: the choice of a marriage partner, the gender of the children, and even the specific type of soul that will be born as one’s child.
If you reflect on this, you may be engaging in various practices right now, such as gender selection. However, I am fundamentally opposed to such practices. If you understand that you are here on Earth to undergo spiritual training, with God’s will as your own, then you must trust in God’s will—even if you do not fully understand it.
If you believe that children are a gift from God, then you should humbly and joyfully welcome the souls entrusted to your family. Whether it is a girl, or even if five or ten boys are born, since you have promised to accept those souls, you must welcome and raise your children with reverence, joy, and love—embracing your destiny in this way.
This means that you are not merely being tossed about by an unwelcome fate, but that this is a life that was already chosen and planned by your own free will before you were born. Humanity must now come to understand this truth.
