このあいだ、メーベルさんのブログでコンピュータ用語のCookieが トピックスになっていたんですけど、このCookieの語源は セサミストリートのCookie Monsterのモデルともいわれている 米国人なら誰でも知っているこのThe Andy Williams Showの Cookie Bearなんだという伝説をふと思い出してました
The Andy Williams Show was a television variety show which ran from 1957 to 1971 "The Cookie Bear," a tall, comical animal whose escapades (& begging for a cookie) would frustrate Williams to the point of his shouting at him, with increasing high pitch, that he didn't want to see him again, "Not Now--Not Ever--NEVER!!" A catchphrase made famous by Sesame Street's Cookie Monster*. The phrase then started to spread, This was apparently the origin of the use of the word "cookie" to describe a piece of information presented to a remote host on demand, and it has since passed into common parlance.
