先日、地元に帰省した時に鞄を持って出かける近所のおばさんに遭遇しました。挨拶を交わし、「どこかおでかけですか？？」と尋ねると「ニューヨク（入浴）よ。」「へぇー。ニューヨークですかぁ。いいですね。気をつけていってらっしゃい！」でも、何を私が勘違いをしていたのか「入浴をニューヨーク」と聞き間違いしていたことが後日判明。だって、そのおばさん、2,3ヶ月に一度は必ず夫婦で海外旅行に行くんだもん。てっきり今度はニューヨークなんだと思い込んでいました。その話しをおばさんにしたら、「今度から勘違いされないように「なんちゃってニューヨク」に行ってくるわ」と言わなあかんね！」と爆笑された。こんな聞き間違いを私はたまにやってしまいます。（苦笑）みなさんもこんな聞き間違いをしたことありませんか？？

The other day, when I was back in my hometown, I encounterd an auntie who lives in our neighborhood. She was carrying a bag and she was getting ready to go somewhere. We said "Hi!" to eachother. I asked her, "Are you going somewhere?" She replied, "Oh, I'm going to Nyuyoku(means "bathing at a hot springs" in Japanese) "Oh, You're going to NY. Wow! Have a good trip!" But afterwards, I found out that I heard it wrong. I don't know why but I thought what I heard was NY instead of "Nyuyoku". This auntie always goes to a trip abroad with her husband every 2,3 months. So I thought automatically that she was going to travel abroad again. When I told this to auntie, she said, "Next time I go to "nyuyoku", I 'll say I'm going to "Nanchatte Nyuyoku(means "unreal NY" in Japanese) and we had a good laugh. I sometimes hear words wrongly. Do you have a experience as such,too??
