"Hyperion", "The Fall of Hyperion"

Yesterday, I finished reading "The Fall of Hyperion" after "Hyperion"by Dan Simmons.

On the planet named Hyperion exist "time tomb", mysterious excavations, which ascend the time from future to past. Within Time Tomb, a crude bloodshed creature named Shrike is confined in. When Time Tomb seem to be open, Auster, the race divided from humankind, began to invade human enterprise.
The CEO of human hegemony chose 7 pilgrims to visit Time Tomb to solve the riddle of Time Tomb.
"Hyperion" is the first book, which contains each personal story of 7 pilgrims.
Through those 7 personal stories, we can understand the situation at the time and enjoy each well written mid length stories, which is love-story, cyber-punk, sad story and so on.

At the end of "Hyperion", the pilgrims at last reach Time Tomb.

"The fall of Hyperion" is a complete sequel of "Hyperion".
Though 7 pilgrims at last reach Time Tomb, one by one disappears from Time Tomb.
New personality of story taller joins the story, and the story begin to explode with episode of space opera, background control of AI, time paradox, and human evolution at different space environment.

Some might criticize this book to be the patchwork of existing SFs, but I respect the author's great composition ability and expression skill.
It is very long book, each with over 500 pages, but if you love Science Fiction and have not read it yet, it worth to challenge. Please try it now!
