Next, I represent a photograph of 185 Series "Odoriko" limited express and E657 Series "Hitachi" limited express at Tokyo Station.
On March, 2015, Because of the open of Ueno-tokyo Line between Ueno Station and Tokyo Station, linking Tokaido, Tohoku, Takasaki, and Joban Lines, two limited express trains on Joban Line "Hitachi", which "Super Hitachi" was renamed, and "Tokiwa", which "Fresh Hitachi" was renamed, are also extended to Shinagawa Station via this line, and the meeting of "Odoriko" limited express on Tokaido Main Line and "Hitachi" or "Tokiwa" can be seen regularly on the section between Tokyo and Shinagawa. After this line opened, "Odoriko" basically keep departing from or terminating at Tokyo but sometimes extend to Omiya Station on Tohoku Main Line or Abiko Station on Joban Line.
The meeting of 185 Series, debuted in 1981, and E657 Series, debuted in 2012, won't last so long because it is said that 185 Series is retiring in a couple of years.
It is first time that the carriage both DC and AC electrification available regularly comes to Tokyo Station after Japan National Railway (JNR)'s privatization in 1987. In JNR period before Tohoku Shinkansen opened, there is also a railway connecting Ueno and Tokyo in parallel with Yamanote Line and Keihin-tohoku Line some limited express running between Tokyo area and Tohoku area, such as "Hitachi", "Hatsukari" and "Hibari", and local trains from Tohoku, Takasaki, and Joban Lines had came there until 1973. When the plan of Tohoku Shinkansen decided, some parts of the track had to divert to the space for the one of Shinkansen because of the little number of train operation. In 1983, the track officially stopped train operation and partly removed.
