2016（平成28）年の初撮影は、秩父鉄道6000系の急行「開運号」。ダイヤは定期運行の急行「秩父路」号と同じだが、三箇日には毎年「開運号」のヘッドマークを付けて運行している。僕にとっては、今回が初めての「開運号」の撮影となった。
僕がカメラを構えた場所は浦山口駅～武州中川駅間。やって来た車両は6001F。線路の盛土と沿道の段差を利用して、ややローアングル気味で秩父の山々を背景に力強く走る姿が伝わる1枚にした。

My first photographing in 2016 was "New Year Express" on Chichibu Railway Chichibu Main Line. Though its timetable is the same as the regular operations, the Chichibu Railway 6000 Series runs with the special front sign on the first three days of January every year. It was first time for me to photograph this train.
Where I photographed was between Urayamaguchi and Bushu-nakagawa to shoot from the a low angle to use the gap between the railway and the path along it. The carriage I photographed was 6001F set. The image of the first photograph is that the train powerfully running from the mountains.
ヘッドマークには、「急行 開運」の列車名が書かれた絵馬と、2016（平成28）年の干支であるサル（申）が描かれていた。
On the front sign, The ema votive picture on which the name of the train was written and a monkey, the year symbol animal of 2016 in the Chinese astrology, was designed.
Moving to Mitsumineguchi Station, I also met 6003F set, whose body colour changed to the brown one which was used on the old carriage and had a different design sign looking like the one for old Japan National Railway's express trains. I photographed the carriage in two compositions; whole set against the mountains and featuring its front.
