Today, first of all, let me introduce the worst coffee shop I've ever visited: I'm not going to tell the name and place of the coffee shop -but the chef was smoking and cooking. Doesn't he mind serving dishes laced with tobacco ash? I felt like scolding at him.
More than half year since the tobacco tax was raised drastically. But I read that many smokers ended up in failure in quitting smoking completely -they reduced tobacco at most. I'd like to suspect that the government is rather happy with this outcome, since their real intention is to raise more tobacco tax. Recently, I hear that smokers tend to be kept away at various scenes -job hunting and even "marriage hunting". About ten years ago, when I applied for a part-time job at a large stationery store, interviewers were asking the applicants if they smoke, and emphasizing that smoking is not allowed during the work hours anywhere, neither in the office nor the shop. we are always told that smoking is bad for our health since the childhood
. But I cannot understand why some people start up smoking and end up suffering from problems of quitting smoking, various diseases, being swayed by the government and getting kept away. (See also Sep. 21, 2010)
One of the smokers at the office I work at answered to this artless question; some friends around her had been smoking. At the same time... I read an article on newspaper about the relationship between self-esteem and dependency -or addiction
: An experimental result showed that it is easier to become dependency under severe situation
. Dependency is not a misfortune, but people go to dependency under misfortune. The higher our self-esteem is, the less we do something which we know that it would end up hurting ourselves...
I had to add new contents due to the earthquake in this March. Atomic power accident after the earthquake has turned out to be as bad as Chernobyl. And many people are afraid of radioactivity -even harmful rumor is caused. (See also May 13, 2011)
If so, if we don't smoke, it would be easier to blame on radioactivity just in case of the worst, isn't it?
