It is reported that at the meeting of the sumo advisory committee held after Fukuoka tournament there were comments on Hokuho(winner of the tournament)'s manners in and around sumo ring such as unnecessary thrust after the end of bout and rough manner of taking prize money from referee. It is understandable that the committee expresses such comments, because it is one of the important works of the committee to watch traditional manners of sumo.
The former comment might indicate the bout of Hakuho with Ikioi in which Hakuho thrusted Ikioi's back after they fell out of the ring. Hakuho apparently regreted his deed and tried to help Ikioi get up. Watching this bout, I got an impression that Hakuho's fighting spirit spilt over. Regarding his manner of receiving the prize, he is likely still excited immidiately after the fight. TV often shows wrestlers's expressions while they are withdrawing from the ring after their bout, some are so disapointed and frustrated when losing their match. Ex-wrestler Takamisakari was very popular for his lively expression of being disappointed after losing match and being overjoyed when he won.
Their expressions imply their sincerity toward sumo and shows there is no match-fixing as some bouts used to be suspected. Watching their attitude and expression I realize that wrestlers and us have something in common in career life.
