He said "hello" to the Yankee Stadium with grand slam.
He said "good bye" with 6 RBI & WS championship.
He was a Nemesis for franchise enemies like Red Sox, Mets, and Pedro.
True Yankee
Nemesisとは【ギリシャ神話】 ネメシス 《因果応報・復讐(ふくしゆう)の女神》.
Godzilla has uttered his final roar in baseball.
Matsui was never a flashy type, never went out of his way to seek the limelight but he was IN it, nonetheless.
He did his job, played the game hard, did his best, never complained, and never dumped on anyone else.
If he had a good day but the team lost, he simply said: "We lost."
If he had a bad day and team won, he simply said: "We won."
And if he had a bad day and the team lost, he'd simply say: "I'll try harder tomorrow and I hope we win."
Very simple, very unpretentious, he had the kind of attitude that was a throwback to the old days.
I'll always remember how he destroyed Philadelphia during the 2009 World Series...and how much he loved New York.
A real asset to the game.
