Studies in animals suggest that brown seaweed, or wakame, which is commonly used to flavor Asian soups and salads, contains a compound called fucoxanthin that promotes weight loss. Scientists found that fucoxanthin also has anti-diabetes(糖尿病)effects, promoting the synthesis of DHA-- an important fatty acid found in fish oil supplements-- in the liver. Prior studies have shown that fucoxanthin also helps promote the death of human prostate(前立腺)cancer cells in culture(培養組織).
