On January 31, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) over the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak originating in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in China.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) has released health alerts and raised the level of travel advisories for the entire Hubei province (including Wuhan) to Level 3 (Avoid all travel) and for all across China to Level 2 (Avoid non-essential travel).
Meanwhile, on February 1, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) classified the coronavirus infection as one of the designated infectious diseases (Category II Infectious Diseases).
Japanese government has restricted the entry of foreign passengers who stayed in Hubei Province, or those who hold a Chinese passport issued in Hubei Province.
Zhejiang Province has subsequently been added to the list of subject provinces to which the said entry restrictions apply since February 13.
We will keep you informed with any changes in our measures adopted accordingly to the status quo of the continuing global epidemic. Please visit HU’s website regularly for the latest updates.
