The innovative engineering and reputation of excellence at Lotus have really done it again by bringing the former Lotus Elite model back to life. The original Lotus Elite was a sports car produced in the later 1950s and 1960s and then again from 1974 to 1982. It was significant in the Lotus car line as it was the first car to use the 907 aluminum-block 4-valve, which ultimately formed the building blocks to how Lotus engines are designed today. Lotus has completely redefined the Elite as they unveiled the sleek and luxurious design of the 2014 Lotus Elite Sports Coupe concept car at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. It was a show-stopping moment. How could jaws not drop at this innovative and futuristic styling?

It is said that the 2014 Lotus Elite is going to be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 KERS hybrid engine that will deliver 611 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. This means that there are very few vehicles on the market that will be able to go toe-to-toe off the line. Lotus has said that the vehicle will be capable of accelerating zero-to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, which should be enough power for just about anyone. A front-mid-engine was chosen to allow weight to be evenly distributed to all four wheels. A kinetic energy recovery system will feed the power parts with electricity that is generated by braking.

The first thing you notice about the Elite is that it is unbelievably aerodynamic. The entrie vehicle almost looks like it is made of one solid piece as the lines are so fluid. The diamond-shaped headlamps bring something fresh to the table and the wheel design is a work of art.

Although the serial model is not set to release until 2014 it already has sports car enthusiasts on the edge of their seat as they eagerly await to see how the Elite model has transformed from the four-seat station wagon style car that it was in the 1980's to the futuristic two-seater that it will be in 2014. As Lotus moves forward as an organization they are attempting to redesign their cars in an eco-friendly environment. This car was designed by Donato Coco, and has the intent of paving the way for how future Lotus cars will be created. Dany Bahar, CEO of the Lotus Group raved about the quality of this car in his press release and reported that this model should change the perception of how Lotus only makes small sports cars.
