More Used Lotus Coupe Reviews / All Lotus Cars

This Lotus Elite Sports Coupe will feature a 5.0 litre V8 engine and will crank out 542 horsepower. The upgraded R tuned version will feature 611 horsepower and will be in a slightly higher price range. This powerful sports car is said to have been aerodynamically designed which is a contributor to the impressive acceleration 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and the top speed of 330km/h. The car is said to be comparable to the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Aston Martin DB9. Although they are all in a similar price range, if the Lotus Elite Sports Coupe specifications follow up as they are listed, it should have no trouble standing out against its competition.

One of the most unique features about the Lotus Elite Sports Coupe is the use of a kinetic energy recovery system or KERS. Kinetic energy recovery systems are a popular automotive system that is used in formula one racing with the benefit of balancing the car so it better handles and turns. Although it adds an additional 25 kilograms of weight it is considered to be a significant benefit. A lot of automobile makers are doing testing with kinetic energy recovery systems, although few are actually using it which really makes the Lotus Elite Sports Coupe stand out in the crowd.

Another notable feature of the Lotus Elite Sports Coupe is the retractable hard top. Although the addition of the retractable hardtop adds a slightly higher cost it allows drivers to have year round usage and increased safety compared to the soft top. With the Lotus Elite Sports Coupe not available to the market until 2014 it does not have a full safety review available to the public as of yet. However if this car follows similar suit to other Lotus sports cars like the Elise model which features the unique composite front energy absorbing crash structure and door side impact beams it should have no trouble receiving a quality rating. With the car standing up against Porsche and Aston Martin keeping safety features in mind will be a necessity for maintaining a competitive edge.

Similar to the trend with most automobile makers in today's society, Lotus is also taking the eco-friendly approach to making cars. Although most automobile maker's hybrid cars are small, compact and designed for city use there is very few automobile makers incorporating this technology into their sports cars which also distinguishes the Lotus Elite Sports Coupe from its competition. The car is going to be a hybrid and produce emission levels as low as 215g/kg.
