Its first real production truck was built in 1930. Some of the most popular Chevrolet trucks to ever grace the market landed in the 1950s. Today, Chevrolet is offering three truck models for the 2012 year: the Chevrolet Avalanche, the Chevrolet Colorado, and the Chevrolet Silverado, all of which are powerful and versatile.

The 2012 Chevy Avalanche has a starting MSRP of $36,800 and is available in three trims: the LS pickup, the LT pickup, and the LTZ pickup. The Avalanche is known for having the power and capabilities of a full-size pickup truck with the roominess and comfort of an SUV inside. This truck was first launched in 2001 as a 2002 model. The supped-up version of the Avalanche is none other than the luxurious Cadillac EXT. The base LS truck competes with such vehicles as the Ford F-350 (its Super Duty Long Bed version, in particular). This truck's mid-gate folding barrier and removable rear window are really what make it stand out on the market. A new touch-screen navigation and entertainment system aid in the Avalanche's popularity as well.

The 2012 Chevy Colorado is a compact pickup and was first introduced in 2004 to replace the GMC Sonoma and Chevrolet S-10 compact pickups. However, presently, like most of the vehicle's competitors (such as the GMC Canyon and the Toyota Tacoma), it's closer to a mid-size model, which competes better in its target American market. It gets 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway and comes in three trims: the LS pickup, the LT pickup, and the LTZ pickup truck in regular, extended, and crew cabs. These vehicles sit four, five, and six respectfully. This Chevy's impressive, reasonable price points often places it above the competition.

The third Chevrolet truck model in this year's lineup is the Chevrolet Silverado, the counterpart to the GMC Sierra. Until fairly recently, the term "Silverado" was the designated trim name for Chevy C/K Suburbans and pickup trucks from 1975-1999 instead of its own model. Today, the Silverado model comes in several different variants, including the 2012 Silverado 1500 (with a starting price of $22,195), the heavy-duty 2012 Silverado 2500 HD (with a starting price of $28,800), the 2012 Silverado 3500 HD (with a starting price of $36,500), and the fuel-efficient 2012 Silverado Hybrid (starting at $39,640). The Silverado has been an extremely popular part of the Chevrolet line-up since its first appearance, and things aren't changing anytime soon.
