The AIC Awards
The Awards Committee of The American Institute of Chemists is inviting nominations for two well established and respected awards in the field of chemical sciences: The AIC Gold Medal and The AIC Chemical Pioneers.
For both awards, it is the responsibility of the person making the nomination to collect and submit all the required nomination materials: letter of nomination, two letters of support, and the nominees CV. No late nominations will be accepted.
| The AIC Gold Medal
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Gold Medal Award. The American Institute of Chemists Gold Medal Award. First presented by the AIC in 1926, the Gold Medal is the AIC’s highest award. It recognizes service to the science of chemistry and to the profession of chemistry or chemical engineering in the United States. Previous winners include Nobel laureates Glenn T. Seaborg and Herbert C. Brown, as well as other renowned researchers and scientists representing the many facets of the world of chemistry. Recent medalists include Dr. Henry F. Schaefer, III, Dr. E. Gerald Meyer, Dr. Stephen J. Lippard, Dr. Chad Mirkin, Elizabeth Blackburn, George Whitesides, Roald Hoffman, and Oliver Smithies. The award winner is expected to deliver a formal lecture on a topic relevant to the basis for winning the award at the award ceremony during the Chemical Heritage Day in April 2021. Nominations should consist of a nominating letter with the individual's curriculum vita plus two letters of support. All nomination materials are due by October 5, 2020. |
The AIC Chemical Pioneer Award
First presented by The AIC in 1966, the Chemical Pioneer Award recognizes chemists, chemical engineers, or their associates who have made outstanding contributions that have had a major impact on advances in chemical science and industry and/or the chemical profession. Previous winners include pioneering researchers, educators and executives representing the many facets of the world of chemistry. The AIC Chemical Pioneers include Dr. Willaim H. Starnes, Professor Peng Chen, Dr. Kenneth S. Suslick, Dr. Vicki H. Grassian, Dr. Paul A. Craig, Dr. Jeffrey W. Kelly, Dr. Rebecca L. Cann, Professor Donne Blackmond, Professor Anthony Cheetham, Dre. Ann M. Valentine, Eugene G. Rochow, Linus C. Pauling, O. A. Battista, Herbert C. Brown, Alan G. Marshall, and George Olah. The award winner is expected to deliver a formal lecture on a topic relevant to the basis for winning the award at the award ceremony during the 2021 annual meeting of The American Institute of Chemists. Nominations should consist of a nominating letter with the individual's curriculum vita plus two letters of support. All nomination materials are due by October 19, 2020. |
