About The Chemists
The Chemist, established in 1923, is the official online refereed international journal of The American Institute of Chemists (AIC). The editorial objective is to provide a scholarly platform complementing the mission of The AIC in advancing the chemical sciences.
The Chemist accepts submissions from all fields of chemistry defined broadly (e.g., scientific, educational, socio-political). The submissions may be in any one of the following forms.
Research Papers (up to ~5000 words)
that are original will only be accepted. Research Papers are peer-reviewed and include an abstract, an introduction, up to 5 figures or tables, sections with brief subheadings and a maximum of approximately 30 references.The language of the journal is English. The audience includes industrial and academic chemists, researchers, chemical consultants, chemistry educators, and policy scholars.
Surveys conducted by The American Institute of Chemists indicate the average reader of the Chemist holds a Ph.D. and more than 20 years of field experience.
Electronic Publication
The Chemist was published quarterly in magazine format up until 2006. The Chemist is an online journal delivered electronically. There is no paper copy. The entire process from submission, review, revision, final proof, to publication is electronic.
To expedite the review process for fast turnaround and to facilitate fast publication, authors are required to adhere to the submission and manuscript style guide.
