The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived safety Kahlef Hailassie , the team announced. They also announced safety Juan Thornhill was added to their practice squad earlier in the day.
Hailassie was signed to the roster after the team released safety Darnell Savage near the start of the season. He never caught on with the club, becoming a healthy scratch in several of Jacksonville's contests this season.
Even with rookie safety Caleb Ransaw on season-long injured reserve and with starting safety Eric Murray on IR he still never was given the opportunity to play for the Jaguars .

Thornhill, a former second-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs , was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the season and spent time with the Cleveland Browns after playing four seasons for the Chiefs.
He's started 75 games in his career, logging 370 total tackles, 25 pass deflections and eight interceptions.
He'll be eligible to be signed to the active roster after Hailassie's release. However, the team may use the roster spot for tight end Brenton Strange .
Strange's 21-day practice window was opened last week, allowing him the opportunity to return from the injured reserve list.
The team could move Strange to the active roster ahead of their game against the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 23.
