The Denver Broncos made a change to their personnel on Tuesday when they fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero .
The move comes two days after Denver fell to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game in which the Broncos amassed 181 total yards and 11 first downs.
The offense couldn't get anything going with backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham filling in for Bo Nix , and a controversial call by coach Sean Payton on 4th-and-1 to not kick a field goal kept the Broncos at just seven points in the 10-7 loss.
Denver's offense was expected to take a big step in 2025 after a promising season from Nix. The offense finished 14th in the league in scoring and ranked 11th in passing offense. But it was still an inconsistent season while the defense helped the Broncos to a 14-3 record as one of the best in the NFL.
Lombardi joined the Broncos as their offensive coordinator in 2023. He also spent time with the New Orleans Saints — where he won a Super Bowl with Payton — Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers prior to reuniting with Payton in Denver.
