BOSTON — Several Bruins players revealed the injuries they were playing with throughout the season and their first-round playoff series against the Buffalo Sabres.
The good news, though, is that no one needs surgery.
“ Charlie (McAvoy) had had a broken finger that he’s going to take some time to allow that to heal,” general manager Don Sweeney said Wednesday. “He’s got some dental work he still has to do, unfortunately for him.”
McAvoy broke his jaw in November after taking a puck to the face. The defenseman lost some teeth in the process and also lost 20 pounds due to being on a liquid diet. He also took other shots to the face after his return and took several trips to the dentist’s chair.
Nikita Zadorov, meanwhile, revealed he tore his MCL in Game 3 against Buffalo.
“That’ll take time, but not surgery-related,” Sweeney said. “Right now we’ve got a clean slate from the surgical side. Let’s leave it that way.”
Other injuries included Elias Lindholm dealing with the same back injury from two seasons ago, Viktor Arvidsson suffering a punctured lung and fractured rib, David Pastrnak suffering a torn groin, Hampus Lindholm breaking his foot and Pavel Zacha dealing with a high ankle sprain.
