You can forgive NC State if it's not going anywhere for long stretches this season. The 2026 schedule has plenty of dates in North Carolina, but it will log in the miles.
It starts the season in Brazil, has a trip to Palo Alto, and ... everything else is close to home.
Here's our breakdown of a very, very
favorable NC State slate.

The Good
Again, there are plenty of games around Raleigh. The Wolfpack play seven home games, and the regular season finale is at North Carolina.
The Wolfpack leave North Carolina twice from September 5th to the weekend before Thanksgiving.
The Bad
The ACC opener against Virginia is in Rio de Janeiro in late August. Will the long trip matter, and what happens if the Wolfpack aren't fully jelled and lose?
There's that trip, a date at Stanford on the other side of the country, and going to Vanderbilt and Florida State are dangerous road trips.
What ACC Teams NC State Will Miss
Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, Pitt, SMU, Virginia Tech.
It's not horrible to miss Miami, SMU, Clemson, and Pitt. It would've been nice to play Boston College and Virginia Tech, but there's not much to complain about.
NC State's Best and Worst Case Scenarios in 2026
Best Case: Come back from Rio with a win
Don't start the season 0-1 in the ACC before September stars. The Wolfpack take down Virginia, get by Vanderbilt in a fight, and own Carter-Finley over the first half of the season and just keep on winning.
All of a sudden, it's late November, and NC State is 10-0 before playing two teams that didn't go bowling last year.
Worst Case: The road is unkind
NC State drops the opener to Virginia in Rio, gets rolled by Vanderbilt in Nashville, has a problem with the time change at Stanford, can't handle Florida State in Tallahassee, and gets hit with the full Belichick experience in Chapel Hill - or loses at least three of the games away from home - in a grind of a campaign.

Games That Will Decide NC State's Season
1. Virginia (in Rio), Aug. 29.There's a tone-setter, and there's starting the conference season unbeaten with a week off to rest up for the rest of the campaign.
2. at North Carolina, Nov. 28.If the season isn't going well, this could be a program make-or-break moment. If it's going great, this can make it even better.
3. Louisville, Oct. 3.At the moment, this might be the toughest ACC game on the slate after the date in Virginia. It'll be a big moment in the middle of the season.
