The baseball world is still processing the Boston Red Sox 's decision to move on from manager Alex Cora , as well as other members of the staff. The Red Sox were not playing well to start the season, and it seems as if management thought they still had a chance to savage the year with a new voice in the clubhouse.
As for others outside of the Red Sox, they shared their thoughts on Cora's future, and Detroit Tigers manager AJ Hinch thinks that everything will be okay.
"I have reached out to him, I have a close relationship with him, obviously, I have Joey (Cora) here in the family," Hinch said via Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. "I feel for him. I think these are really, really tough jobs to navigate and then on top of that, when something big like that happens, just want to offer him support.
"He's going to be fine. He's incredible. He's a good manager. He's an excellent communicator. He has a deep, deep relationship with people throughout the game. I'm surprised. It's a big part of the gig, unfortunately, but they're still a really good team."
As for the players on the team, Trevor Story was one of the first players to speak out about the firings, and he didn't seem pleased with the direction they were going in.
"If this shows us anything, it's we're here to play baseball, and that's it. We don't make decisions. We don't have any input on that," Story said.
Chad Tracy will be the interim manager for the Red Sox for now, and no one knows if they'll be looking to hire someone new during the season or afterwards. All they can hope for is that with the moves they made, they start seeing some wins sooner rather than later.
