- FSU football gets 3-star 2025 QB Kevin Sperry to flip from Oklahoma; could it help OC search?
Florida State football (1-9, 1-7)coach Mike Norvell landed his quarterback to represent his class of 2025.
Three-star quarterback Kevin Sperry flipped his commitment to FSU on Thursday evening after pledging with Oklahoma. Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports was first to report the news.
Sperry has been an OU commit since March 13, but with the early signing period less than two weeks away, the Denton (Texas) threw a curve ball, joining the Seminoles .

Adding Sperry made up for losing long-time FSU recruit Tramell Jones, who flipped to the Florida Gators last week. FSU was also in the run-in for Carter Smith from Bishop Verot High School on Fort Meyers.

FSU has been losing commits while sitting at 1-9 this season. With the addition of Sperry, FSU now has 13 commits in the 2025 class, which is ranked 34th in the nation by 247Sports .
Who is Kevin Sperry
Sperry is a quarterback prospect from Denton, Texas, attending Guyer High School. He is listed at 6 feet 1 and 200 pounds.

Both On3 and 247Sports have the high school senior as a three-star prospect, while ESPN and Rivals listed him as a four-star.
ESPN ranked him the highest as the No. 11 quarterback in the country, No. 21 in Texas, and No. 132 overall in its Top 300.
This season, Sperry has thrown for 2,260 yards and 21 touchdowns. On the ground, he has rushed for 642 yards and two scores. Guyer is 8-3 this season. He has 19 offers.
Kevin Sperry could link to Oklahoma's interim offensive coordinator Kevin Johns
Kevin Johns talks with Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold (11) before a college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Maine Black Bears at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
As Norvell searches for candidates for the offensive coordinator position, Sperry's commitment to FSU might be an icebreaker for bringing in Kevin Johns.

Johns served as a senior offensive analyst and was elevated to interim co-offensive coordinator at Oklahoma after Brent Venables fired Seth Littrell, his original OC, last month.
Johns was once Norvell's offensive coordinator and QB coach back in Memphis (2019-21). He was part of Norvell's success in having the Tigers play in three straight bowl games, including the Cotton Bowl during the 2019 season.
Johns moved on to serve the same role at Duke for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Johns also coached at Northwestern, Indiana, Texas Tech and Western Michigan.
