Major League Baseball has officially announced the punishment of Mariners reliever Gabe Speier for intentionally throwing at a batter.

Speier was suspended 3 games after throwing a pitch in retaliation for Cal Raleigh that resulted in benches clearing on Wednesday.

Gabe Speier's three-game suspension creates an avoidable problem for a Mariners bullpen that cannot replace him while he serves his punishment.

Gabe Speier has been suspended by MLB for three games after throwing at Gleyber Torres of the Detroit Tigers.

The Mariners will be shorthanded in critical games moving forward.

Seattle Mariners reliever Gabe Speier was ejected after hitting Detroit's Gleyber Torres with a pitch in the eighth inning Wednesday night, making Torres the fourth Tigers batter plunked in the game. The benches and bullpens cleared after Torres was hit, though there appeared to be no punches thrown while the teams gathered around home plate. Mariners manager Dan Wilson was also ejected in the aftermath.

The Mariners are going to need to pull out all the stops to beat the Rangers in Arlington; here's one idea they should consider.
