Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal gives a heartwarming update only weeks after neck surgery.

Week 3 delivered devastating injury news for three NFL teams. Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane suffered a non-contact ACL tear on his fourth touch against the Kansas City Chiefs, ending the Pro Bowler's season. New York Giants edge rusher Brian Burns is also feared to have torn his ACL during a 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans. Washington Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal fractured his neck against the Seattle Seahawks and will require season-ending surgery.

The Washington Commanders are 0-2, and major investments like Mike Sainristil, Ben Sinnott, and Leo Chenal are struggling. Here is who must step up now.

After spending a first-round pick on Sonny Styles and giving Leo Chenal a nearly $25 million contract, we already knew the competition would be fierce for Dan Quinn and first-year defensive coordinator Daronte Jones. As the depth chart currently stands on ESPN, Chenal is listed as the No. 1 left inside linebacker, while Styles is the No. 1 right inside linebacker. It is currently unclear how Jones will stack the box with his linebackers and who will be the primary middle linebacker and wear the green dot on his helmet to lead the huddle.

A two-time Super Bowl champion finally getting full-time snaps. A first-round pick who just set career highs in sacks, pressures, and TFLs. Daronte Jones has two loaded weapons in the front seven.

One NFL analyst says that all new Washington Commanders' defensive additions are X-factors in 2026.

Leo Chenal is one of the many new faces on the Commanders defense and he's the kind of player that can impact a game in multiple ways, especially on special teams.
