Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on Player Development

-

Video Transcript

You know, um, it's not just quarterbacks.

Like I, I feel really good about our player development as a whole, um, really good about our culture that we're able to bring players in here and that we're gonna give them the best opportunity to move forward and have success.

Um, I really do.

I think that's one of our strengths, um, and again, it's not just quarterbacks, I think it's across the board.

Um, we, we give particularly young players opportunities, and one of the things I was talking to Kyle before he, he, he left, and I asked him just kind of one of what was one of the reasons that he felt that he progressed as quickly as he did this this preseason, and he just said reps, you know, you know, we made a decision to move on from the drones for that reason, just to continue to give Kyle more reps because he was doing such a good job.

And I do think that's one of the hardest things for young players, is there's just not enough reps . As much as, you know, I got Ted Thompson in me not wanting to have these preseason games, not wanting to play anybody because of injuries, the only way guys get better is if they get out there, you know, in-game, uh, in live situations in practice, like joint practices, and have uh a lot of reps, and, um, unfortunately you never have enough for the young players to continue to grow, so, um, but I think we do a pretty good job uh of allowing that to happen, and, um, again across the board, not just quarterbacks.
