Doctor shares the benefits of eye exams

When was the last time you had an eye exam?
August is National Eye Exam Month, which could be a great time for you to book an appointment. Dr. Mark Lobanoff, founder of OVO LASIK & Lens, visited KARE 11 News at Noon to share more about what these exams can catch.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization, about 80% of vision loss can be prevented or treated if it is detected early. Eye exams can detect early signs of visual loss, as well as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and autoimmune diseases.
Lobanoff advised people to pay attention to subtle warning signs such as flashes of light, eye pain or subtle night-driving glare. He also recommended that all adults should get a comprehensive baseline eye exam by age 40 to screen for silent diseases.
