The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is one of many mattresses promising the best of both worlds: the pressure relief of foam with the support and bounce of coils. And right now, that hybrid formula is everywhere. Demand for hybrid mattresses is projected to grow 6.8% annually through 2030 , as shoppers seek a balance of comfort and airflow.
In this story
Still, trending doesn't always mean top-rated. In a 2025 survey of 1,055 U.S. adults , hybrids earned midrange satisfaction scores — landing between higher-rated air-filled chamber beds and lower-rated traditional innerspring models. But after evaluating more than 25 mattresses , Yahoo has found that hybrid designs often offer better comfort and temperature regulation than all-foam beds — two factors that can make a noticeable difference for many sleepers.
"Hybrids combine foam layers with a coil support system, offering pressure relief with added responsiveness, airflow and ease of movement," says Terry Cralle , a registered nurse, certified clinical sleep educator and spokesperson for the Better Sleep Council.
That responsiveness may matter more than shoppers realize. "Anyone who changes positions frequently or has severe spinal instability may benefit from hybrid mattresses because they offer more responsive support for easier movement during sleep than memory foam," says Dr. Angela Bohnen , a board-certified neurosurgeon at Neurosurgery One in Littleton, Colo.
Still, Bohnen cautions that mattress type alone won't do all the work. "For back health , firmness matters more than mattress type," she says, explaining that medium-firm surfaces typically best maintain spinal alignment while preventing pressure-point pain.
So, where does the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid fall? With a six-layer construction that pairs pressure-relieving foam with supportive coils for airflow and bounce, it's designed to address common complaints about all-foam beds — namely, heat retention and sinkage. To find out how it performs in real life, Yahoo tester Laura Fraize — a combination sleeper who often experiences restless legs at night — slept on the mattress for two weeks to evaluate its comfort, support and cooling claims.

The delivery and setup
Like many of the mattresses we've tested , the queen-size DreamCloud Premier Hybrid arrived rolled, compressed and vacuum-sealed inside a hefty 86-pound cardboard box. Our tester said the mattress arrived on time and within the brand's estimated shipping window. (According to DreamCloud, mattresses ship for free, typically within two to five days after you receive a shipping notification and are delivered via FedEx or UPS.) But Fraize also noted that the mattress was "heavy and difficult to move up stairs."
That's an important caveat since DreamCloud no longer offers white-glove delivery, which included in-home setup and old mattress removal for an added fee. That means you'll have to plan some heavy lifting — and a DIY setup — before you're ready to sleep on it.
The good news? Fraize reported that the setup process was straightforward. After removing the plastic wrap, the mattress began expanding almost immediately. "There was a slight unpleasant smell," she noted, "but it dissipated after about an hour."
Durability, materials, perceived firmness and shape retention
To evaluate the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid, we followed our standard mattress testing process , which looks at durability, materials, firmness, comfort and how well a mattress holds its shape over time.
Durability
After inspecting the mattress for early red flags — such as loose stitching, uneven seams or visible manufacturing defects — Fraize said she didn't see anything that raised concerns about durability, noting that the construction appeared solid and well-finished right out of the box.
Of course, real durability reveals itself over years, not two weeks. To get a clearer picture, Yahoo reviewed Consumer Reports' lab testing. The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid earned a perfect 5 out of 5 durability score after testing designed to simulate eight years of use — a strong sign that its materials and construction can withstand regular wear.
That long-haul durability is further supported by DreamCloud's limited lifetime ("Forever") warranty, which applies to the original purchaser and covers certain manufacturing defects (including indentations deeper than 1.5 inches). In practical terms, if your mattress develops a covered defect within the first 10 years, DreamCloud will replace it at no cost.
After year 10 — when the "Forever" portion of the warranty kicks in — DreamCloud will repair or replace the mattress at its discretion. At that point, a $50 transportation fee each way may apply, though it's waived if a defect is confirmed.
Materials
The DreamCloud Premier is a hybrid mattress , meaning it blends foam layers with a coil support core to balance contouring comfort and structural support. It features a plush quilted top, multiple foam layers and a pocketed coil system that aims to deliver pressure relief with responsive lift.
Notable materials and construction details include:
-
CertiPUR-US® Certified , meaning the memory and adaptive foam layers were screened to be free of harmful chemicals, gases, and substances.
-
Fiberglass-free:An alternative barrier is used instead of synthetic flame retardants.
-
Euro top:Unlike a traditional pillowtop, a euro top is sewn flush with the mattress edges and typically uses denser materials. They're generally considered more durable than pillowtops and may feel firmer around the perimeter .
-
Pocket coils:Individually wrapped pocket coils promote airflow and move independently, which can help limit motion transfer compared to traditional interconnected springs.
Many pocketed-coil mattresses contain roughly 800 to 1,200 coils and typically use higher-gauge wire, which allows for greater flexibility and contouring. DreamCloud doesn't publish those details for the Premier Hybrid — the brand told Yahoo the information was proprietary — so it's hard to know exactly where it falls in that range.
The cover is marketed as containing "cooling fibers," though DreamCloud doesn't specify what those fibers are or how they stack up against other breathable materials. It's worth knowing that "cooling" is a manufacturer label, not a standardized claim, as Cralle points out. That said, real-world results can still tell a story: Fraize, who regularly battles nighttime heat, said she stayed comfortable throughout the night — which, for a self-described hot sleeper, is no small thing.
Perceived firmness
Mattress firmness is rated on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the firmest. The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid lands between a 7 and 8 out of 10, making it a medium-firm mattress. While that feel wasn't perfectly aligned with Fraize's personal preference, she said it accurately reflected the brand's stated firmness level.
Edge support was less impressive. Despite marketing claims of perimeter reinforcement, Fraize found the sides "slightly softer than expected" and said she often moved back toward the center to feel fully stable. She described the center as comfortable and supportive, whether she was on her back, stomach or side. For sleepers who use the full surface of the bed — or sit on the edge to get dressed — the softer perimeter may be a drawback.
Fraize also found it easy to change positions, and she didn't notice significant motion transfer when her partner shifted during the night — suggesting the pocketed coils and foam layers did a good job minimizing disruptions. In third-party testing, the mattress earned a 3 out of 5 for long-term stability, pointing to average performance over time.
Shape retention
At the two-week mark, Fraize and her partner noticed a slight imprint forming where they typically sleep. That said, she emphasized that the subtle impression hadn't affected overall comfort or support. The mattress still felt consistent across the center of the bed, with no noticeable sagging or soft spots developing beyond their usual sleep positions.
It's worth remembering that the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid earned a perfect durability score in third-party testing simulating eight years of use — a reassuring indicator that the materials are built to hold up over time.
Comfort level: The initial experience
As part of Yahoo's mattress testing process , we ask testers to complete a series of short evaluations — such as lying on their side, stomach and back for 10 minutes — along with extended at-home sleep testing over time.
Fraize's first impressions were largely positive. She found the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid supportive across sleep positions , noting that her back, stomach and side all felt properly aligned during the 10-minute position tests. Her main critique was the perimeter: comfort and stability dropped off near the edge, making the center of the mattress the clear sweet spot.

Comfort level: What ongoing testing revealed
Yahoo's mattress testers slept on their beds for at least two weeks in their own homes. Over that period, they evaluate temperature regulation, motion transfer and overall sleep quality — including what it's like to share the bed with a partner or pet.
Although third-party lab testing showed more average results in some comfort categories, Fraize's real-world experience was notably positive. After two weeks, she gave the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid a near-perfect score. She reported waking up feeling more refreshed than with her previous mattress — a meaningful improvement in day-to-day sleep quality. As someone who tends to sleep hot, Fraize was pleasantly surprised by the mattress's temperature regulation, noting that it helped her stay cool throughout the night.

What about customer service?
As part of our evaluation process, Yahoo asked each mattress tester to contact customer service with questions about the brand's return policy. DreamCloud offers multiple support channels, including live chat, phone and email. Fraize chose to connect via live chat and said the company "responded quickly, and their answer was helpful."
Here's what that policy includes:
-
365-night trial period
-
After 30 days, you can return the mattress for a full refund
-
Returns are free
In Yahoo's own live chat inquiry, we asked more detailed product questions, including specifics about materials, coil count and weight limits. The representative declined to share the exact coil count, noting that it's proprietary, but responded promptly and courteously. When we asked about weight limits, the initial answer conflicted with information elsewhere on the site , though we were eventually directed to the correct page.
If you switch positions frequently during the night or tend to sleep hot, the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is worth considering. Its medium-firm feel offers a balance of pressure relief from memory foam with the bounce and responsiveness of coils, making it easier to move and potentially helpful for those with chronic back pain.
This mattress is:
-
A good back sleeper mattress
-
A good stomach sleeper mattress
-
A good combination sleeper mattress
-
A good mattress for couples
-
A good cooling mattress
However, dedicated side sleepers may find it a bit firm. In third-party lab testing, the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid earned 3 out of 5 across petite, average and larger side-sleeper categories, suggesting it may not offer as much contouring at the shoulders and hips as softer models.
At slightly over $1,000, it's also worth comparing with other hybrids in the same price range — especially if you prefer stronger edge support or a plusher feel. One to consider: The Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid , which won Yahoo's kudos for the best affordable mattress under $1,000.

FAQs
How long will a DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress last?
DreamCloud estimates that most hybrid mattresses, including the Premier Hybrid, last 7 to 10 years. Actual lifespan depends on factors like body weight, sleep frequency and whether you use a mattress protector to reduce wear.
What are the most common complaints about the DreamCloud mattress?
The most frequently reported issues include sagging over time , mild off-gassing when the mattress is first unpacked and some firmness concerns — particularly for sleepers who prefer a very firm surface.
What is a euro top mattress?
A euro top mattress has an extra layer of padding — usually 1 to 4 inches — sewn flush with the edges of the mattress rather than attached on top with a small gap, as with a pillowtop. That signature gap is what gives pillowtops their rounded appearance. Euro tops, on the other hand, look flatter and more uniform.
In terms of feel, pillowtops offer consistent cushioning across the entire surface, while euro tops tend to be softer toward the center. The fluffier construction of a pillowtop can compress and flatten unevenly over time, while euro tops hold up longer — though some edge softening is still possible with extended use. It's a small distinction in most cases, but worth knowing if edge support or long-term durability factors into your buying decision.
