Shamrocks Irish Nook is a family-friendly burger joint in the heart of St. Paul. Hot dogs and beer, what a combo! This St. Paul landmark has been serving them up for the better part of 50 years. Not somewhere that you have to dress for, but the dogs are always ready around 10:30am. Although the place isn't much on atmosphere, if you like Coneys, it is worth a quick stop. If business is slow, the Gopher has been known to close early, so if you have a late night urge, call ahead to be sure they are still open.
The name and décor might lead one to believe this is another of St. Paul's famous Irish bars, but it really is not. It is a corner bar with a little more character than your average joint. Amidst a long stretch of bars, the location makes this the perfect stop for people attending an event at the RiverCentre. The appealing seating arrangement allows the conversation to flow undeterred. The dining area is wide-open and accommodates the crowds quite well. Specialty beers, cocktails, wine and soda can be ordered. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, pasta and appetizers are the menu favorites.
Obb's is an iconic sports bar in St. Paul and was one of the first bars in the city to get a license after the Prohibition period. While the building in which the bar is situated dates back to the early 20th Century, the bar itself has also stood the test of time for over five decades. You can drop in for some breakfast or lunch with the family or come by with a couple of friends for some beer and live broadcasts of games.
