In early 2017, Eric was inspired to break away from his job in IT and invest his time in a new project that combines his two great passions: music and world travel. There's an enormous world of musical expression beyond our familiar high school band or modern rock, country, and hip-hop, and it's been a dream to share our passions with others. From the moment you enter our shop, you too will be struck by the amazing breadth of human creativity and the magic of these musical instruments. They've been collected from around the globe; Native American flutes, Irish bodhrans, Egyptian ouds and African kalimbas line our store from floor to ceiling.
We specialize in sales, repair, lessons and construction of folk and baroque musical instruments. We offer in-store lessons for all levels of guitar, nyckelharpa and beginning to intermediate mandolin. We also host in-store performances for local and visiting musicians.
I offer lessons for all levels and ages 6 - 86! Originally trained in classical music, I insist on a classical technique basis including positioning, scales, and arpeggios. Within this structure, I play and teach a variety of styles, including Classical, Fiddle, and Rock. In addition I specialize in music from Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Formal Training: I apprenticed for many years with Ms. Sherry Kloss, assistant to famed violinist Jascha Heifetz. My teaching philosophy is a reflection of the Heifetz Legacy of teaching which puts great emphasis on understanding your piece and saying something unique to you. Practically, this involves growing technique in addition to the development of an individual sound, a palette of colors, and a depth of interpretation. The most important thing is to grow your technique so that you can accurately express emotion through your instrument while keeping the fire of inspiration alive and thriving!
