Nuart Gallery

The Nüart Gallery presents art in a brilliant space, literally in the sense of white walls and furnishings and figuratively in regard to the abstract design. The art primarily follows a modern inclination, however on occasion there is an homage to more traditional forms. The exhibits and showings change monthly, but for more than a decade, the Nüart Gallery has presented some of the most innovative artists in the world. From fashion to photos and beyond, this atelier is definitely one of the highlights along Canyon Road.

Museum of Contemporary Native Arts

The Institute of American Indian Arts Museum is located downtown, one block east of the plaza and across the street from the St. Francis Cathedral. It's the only museum in the world that highlights contemporary Native American arts. Carl Beam, James Lavadour, Gerald Clarke, and Tom Fields are but a small sampling of artists whose works are on display. The museum often features exhibits of IAIA students and faculty. Other events include lectures, book signings and children's activities.

Chiaroscuro

Chiaroscuro Contemporary is located in a quaint adobe structure and inside the interplay of light and dark aptly describes the gallery's name. Many of the pieces focus on indigenous peoples, most notably Native American, Australian Aboriginal and the Southwest. However, the art defies depiction as it varies between contemporary, traditional, experimental, Op Art and many others depending on when you visit.

For more than three decades, this gallery on Canyon Road has displayed the who's who in contemporary and fine art. The artists focus on contemporary art, where landscapes and objects are abstract and modern always with an eye towards the ethereal and surreal. Alexandra Stevens Gallery also hosts exhibits throughout the year, something which makes it more of a museum as opposed to a gallery. Nonetheless, the collection is impressive and the gallery always merits a visit.
